Technologies and more...
Selection is done

Well… It has taken only two years and few months to check all these blog opportunities and make a final selection. Blogger.

First, I extensively use Google tools and services in my online work, research and life. Second, there are many gadgets, widgets and different modules available for Blogger. Third, this blog is easily searched with variety of search engines without my effort (and can be searched even more with it). Fourth, I can post to this blog directly from MS Word (yes, it is probably a shame, but I still use this office package, and will use in the future – for the best compatibility I can achieve in our organization as much as university plus research partners-wide). Fifth, o… k, it is enough for this list. The other features are not the most important.

Some other blogs from this list pus few more have some similar to Blogger features as well. But to my opinion, Blogger has the most. And my former blog where I published something from time to time has the least. Sure, I could launch a blog from one of my or available to me servers. The some of the features I would have to organize by myself. And since I didn't get any extra hours for every day, I would not be able to find time for that. At least for the nearest years – who knows for how longJ

Welcome, my new blogging environment!

And You are welcome to my blog:

http://sciagent.blogspot.com/

Yours,

SciAgent

P.S. This blog is still available here: http://blog.sciagent.net/

Lightning talk at the 1st Social Data on the Web workshop (SDoW2008)
Today I had a lightning talk at the 1st Social Data on the Web workshop (SDoW2008) (under the 7th International Semantic Web Conference – ISWC2008).

The talk had two main points. First, I tried to bring a community attention to W3C’s Ubiquitous Web Domain, particularly to Mobile Web Initiative (MWI)Ubiquitous Web Applications (UWA) working groups and one of the very interesting results of their work - Delivery Context Ontology. Second, I wanted to initiate a discussion of ubiquitous nature of web.

This is something that is missing sometimes when people discuss of some rapidly growing areas of web like e.g. social networks. Yes, many things are in a ToDo list as for data annotating, linking and processing. But data delivery and presentation are important as well.

NetBeans 10th Birthday Celebration!
This is THE EVENT:
Welcome to the NetBeans 10th Birthday Celebration!

JBuilder 4 was my favourite tool many years ago. At work. At home Forte for Java was the IDE. Later those free Personal and Foundation editions of JBuilder comparing to fully featured (and very expensive) Enterprise edition looked like Celeron D comparing to Pentium 4. We joked that they are very good for writing “Hello, world!” applications.

Eclipse was not in its power by that time. It became to be a good tool since version 3.0 and very promising since Callisto release. JBuilder became to be another Eclipse-based IDE. But all that time NetBeans was the IDE of mass of students and home developers. The main its strength – ease for new-comers and featured enough for professionals was one of the most important reasons for that.

The more the NetBeans’ version number, the more features and technologies it supports. Little-by-little it has taken a position of the IDEs like Java Studio Creator (Web applications) and Java Studio Enterprise (Java EE). It became to be full-featured IDE fully supporting Java EE in version 4.1, about one year before the Callisto release.

Eclipse Europa release was very successful by being a good multi-purpose IDE with some lack in support of some of the Java technologies (e.g. JSF, some issues with which were solved in Ganymede release this summer though). In autumn 2007 I introduced both, Eclipse and NetBeans IDEs to my students. Most of them selected NetBeans (much easier to use, plenty of online tutorials) and as far as I know, they use it still.

NetBeans 6.0 has collapsed a community. With all the available packages it has been a multi-purpose IDE as never before. Some bugs though… NetBeans 6.1 is more featured and stable. NetBeans 6.5 is going to be an awesome IDE, look at its list of features:

Beside that this course is available online and royalty-free.

I was one of the lucky ones who were admitted to this course. Thus this site was lifted up for experimental purposes:

Once more
Today my education number # has started. Everlasting study. Expectations are high. Available time is like always... Two are the most exciting things: this education is as relevant to job as never before and can be taken in parallel; and it is given in English

Ough, poor, poor my visitors... This blog is gonna be even more boring than it has been so far. Or not. Or what?

Hmm... I don't remember exactly, but it happened at about this time No one can approve it anymore

Many thoughts. Many plans. Many ideas. Lack of time. I like it. I hate it. I don't want to change it. It means... Leave it. Time will show. It always shows. Regardless of its amount.
